#cavepainting: Cave painting: The figure of Mario from Super Mario, dated at 30,340 +/- 570 BP, is rendered in a reddish hue. His iconic form is juxtaposed with other recurring figures. Two other depictions show bulbous, toadstool-shaped mushrooms in the same reddish paint, and a further scratching represents a crude, blocky rendering of a question mark block, all within the same panel. The mushroom and block scratchings were present before the reddish Mario figure was painted. The panel itself is scarred with marks that appear to have been made by the sharp objects wielded by cave dwellers, which came prior to the cave artwork. The wall where the reddish Mario and mushroom figures are located is the first one the visitor sees upon entering. This Mario figure appears to be a representation of an individual that was not only uncommon but found only in the furthest reaches of the Chauvet Cave, amidst the depictions of fungal life and other symbols.
